It’s not surprise to really anyone that it’s hot in Texas, but this summer has proved to be particularly dastardly. Over 20 days in a row over 100 and we have two days next week slated to be 107. What? No, that’s not a typo, that’s 107 before factoring in humidity or heat index.
So what’s a girl to do when she generally relies on layering, blazers and scarfs? And furthermore, what’s a girl to do when it’s just a teensy bit unorthodox to just go naked? You find the next best thing, my friend, the next best thing.
For me that has been my trusty denim cut-offs made from a college days pair of American Eagle boyfriend jeans. They’re fitted, but relaxed, which is a lifesaver in 100+ temperatures. I’ve also been wearing this top more than I care to admit to you (or anyone), but the gauziness of the fabric lets the heater-like effect of the wind through and is better than, you know, wool or something. Of course, then, just to try and be fashionable, I throw on my brown wedges and grab my not-vintage-but-looks-it bag.
Well, wherever you are, we’ve only got a few weeks of summer left, so heat or not, I’m going to enjoy them. Multiple (if not daily) trips to the pool are scheduled for reading and sipping cold Pellegrino, several home projects are in the works, sleeping (goes almost without saying), and maybe a bit of light school planning (like making cute things for the walls light).
